THE ROSSYS

Short documentary, 2002

The Rossy is the name of a department store chain, but it’s also and mostly the name of the couple behind it. The family business, managed by Michael and Celia Rossy, becomes an iconic brand in Quebec from the 50’s to the 80’s. Generations shoped and worked at Rossy. This company’s history is therefore closely linked to Montreal’s and the Province of Quebec’s contemporary history. However, when mega competitors like Walmart appeared, the Rossy had to use creativity to avoid bankruptcy. This movie is about them, their work and their unwavering love.
